Nightmare #287 – Vampire Orgy

“…Something wasn’t right…”

“…Something wasn’t right…”

(Male, 20’s)You’ve got to tag this one “vampire orgy” even though there was nothing sexual about it. It started off stupid but ended scary as heck.

The world had ended for some reason though I don’t think it had anything really to do with vampires. They were just sort of an added, low-level worry. I lived on the 8th floor of an abandoned apartment building with a few friends. The friends had gotten high, I think, and became extremely hungry. They left in search of a bakery that they thought still was operating. I was left alone, sober.

My friends called on the cell phone and they seemed even less sensible than previously. They had found the bakery but it was now located on the 25th floor of a building that was still under construction. The only way they could figure to get up there was to steal one of those construction worker’s wrecking claw vehicles and have it lift their car up to the top of the structure. They just hoped they could move the car without crushing in the machine’s jaws. I think. I was confused but I think they were calling to find out whether I wanted them to bring home cannoli for me too or should they eat them all there. My friend was lovingly describing these “cannoli” that were stuffed with cheese and tomato sauce and pepperoni and oregano. Weird, right?

When I got off the phone with my idiot roommates, the apartment building was entirely dark. I was on the first floor, which I knew was the most vulnerable place in the building so I just started running, around and around and up and up the stair case. I kept my eyes pressed closed because I really didn’t want to see what could be around me until I got to a place where I knew I could do something. When I got to my floor, I started turning on lights. By this point, I was running so fast I was actually flying.

Something wasn’t right.

I flew down the hallway, one that we rarely used and found this large room completely covered in gray tile. I didn’t remember seeing it before. It had a cold institutional feel and harsh illumination. The room was filled with vampires. But they weren’t like any vampire I have ever seen depicted anywhere. They were slow moving and stupid, more like zombies. It’s equally possible that they were just drunk or stoned out on blood – their own blood. They could barely walk and whenever they bumped into another vampire, they lashed out and tried to bite its throat. The throats of all the vampires were already ripped out and bleeding, like this orgy had been going on for some time. Their eyes had rolled back in their heads so they really weren’t aware of me. Dripping from their mouths were long strings of saliva and partially clotted blood. They just stumbled around, viciously attacking anything they happened to bump into.

Part of me was really confused, “How did they all get in here this fast? I was only gone a minute or two” while the rest of me, honestly, most of me was simply terrified, if not for myself then also for my roommates who would have no chance of surviving this nest of vampires.
