As a fan of bones, skulls and site specific art installations, I dig this Bangkok art show that covered the entire floor of the gallery with tiny skulls. Artist Nino Sarabutra asks if we left this world tomorrow, what would we leave behind for our loved ones, an oddly appropriate question for a time of the year bracketed by the dead of winter when suicide rates are high and Valentine’s Day. The dead out number us and their silent eyes observe our actions even as their work and lives support us.
It reminds me somewhat as the inverse of a ceramics show a few years back that covered the floor with unfired bisqueware. Even to enter the gallery meant crushing piece after piece.
